Grace is a talented teacher and musician, knowledgeable, energetic and fun. Learning with her is never pressured. While she’s quick at spotting improvements, she never makes you feel bad when you make performance slips. She uses different ways to convey that same learning concept at the piano. It is easier for a student, especially a young kid, to keep going and stay motivated.

When teaching a piece, Grace always introduces the background of the composer and the music. Along with the playing, she often teaches in imaginative ways when it comes to finding expression, both personal and within the pieces. She encourages Ethan to be creative and be involved in the learning process, culturing his musical senses as well.

She also knows and emphasizes the importance of performing in front of other people. She encourages students to participate in various music festivals, regularly organizes studio classes, recitals, and other ways to provide students with more performance chances.

For all these years, I have witnessed Grace’s passion for music and piano teaching. It’s been four and a half years since Ethan started taking piano lessons at Grace’s studio. He is now ready to take RCM Level 5 exam and will continue learning from Grace, happily. I feel very lucky that Ethan can have her as his piano teacher.
